La vita
Smaller cities, the south, the coast. Outer Florence.Vita is the tier for people who understood something early: the postcard neighborhoods are where Italians go on Sunday, not where most of them live. Life at this tier happens in the small cities and the south, in market towns on the coast, in the outer neighborhoods of Florence where the bars have regulars and the rent has not heard of Instagram.
Your mornings are a five-minute walk for coffee where they learn your order by week two. Your weekly shop happens at a covered market. Your neighbors are teachers, nurses, and the family that has run the forno since before the Republic. English is rarer here, which is either the obstacle or the entire point, and we think you already know which one it is for you.
This is also, quietly, the tier with the most financial headroom. The monthly number covers a genuinely good home with money left over for the life around it: the trattoria twice a week, the train to wherever, the August that Italians take seriously.
La casa
A renovated one or two bedroom in the historic fabric of a smaller city, or something larger with outdoor space as you move south and coastal. Stone walls, real shutters, a landlord we have vetted and a lease registered before your visa interview, in the form your consulate requires.

What Vita is not: it is not central Florence, and we will not pretend the difference does not exist. It is a different, arguably better relationship with Italy, at a number that is real.
